China is by far the world's largest electric vehicle market, accounting for more than 40% of global electric vehicle sales and more than twice the number of electric vehicles sold in the United States, the International Energy Agency said in a report on Wednesday.
The report also said that it is undeniable that the current rise in the electric vehicle market is mainly affected by the policy environment.
The International Energy Agency said that many governments will launch an electric vehicle initiative, setting a target of increasing the market share of electric vehicles, buses, trucks and vans to 30% by 2030. The ten governments include China, France, Germany, Britain and the United States.
India is not part of the initiative, but India plans to sell only electric vehicles by the end of the next decade. The world hopes that electric vehicles will help solve the problem of air pollution.
According to the Paris agreement previously reached by various countries, all parties will strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change and control the rise of the global average temperature within 2 degrees Celsius compared with the level before industrialization. To achieve this goal, the International Energy Agency said that by 2040, the world needs 600 million electric vehicles.
